That's interesting...maybe this also varies by location? At Metro, it seems they are always trying to encourage the study groups, while I prefer independent study. Hmm.

Thanks Liz, and you are right on all points. I have written the CBE for this, but ESC screwed up and assigned me an evaluator that didn't comply with their idea of a full report, so as a result I am the one who has top go through this process again. I am also only asking for 12 credits. Not so much. Considering the quantity of study groups (which I prefer) or even talented faculty is dwindling, my options for study shrink as well. I have become very disappointed in the school over the past year. It is not the school I enrolled in back in the fall of 2005. In my mind it has gone downhill.

I know that ESC will only accept credit from regionally accredited colleges, but can't you still write CBE essays and get credit that way?

Also, I know that this is not what you want to hear, but I think there is value in not doing CBE or transferring credits. I myself could have transferred way more credits than I did. My first thought was to transfer the full 96 to which I was entitled and just take 32 credits in photography, but as I worked on my DP, I realized that I had so much to learn in the arts. One woman in my group took every CLEP test on the planet so she could acculmulate tons of credits that way, but it's not the same as an ESC study. It seems to me that many people who opt for CBE or credits by CLEP are trying to get through ESC as quickly as possible, which I can understand in some cases, but isn't this the very attitude you criticize in your post?

Oh, I know and loathe those moments when you suddenly realize that some assignment wasn't done that is due very shortly. Nothing like scrambling!

I hope the credit situation is resolved soon.
